Frames and supports in 15th and 16th-century Southern Netherlandish painting

LEUVEN, M-MUSEUM 641 a-b. Bottom and upper sides of the closed frame. The frame of the central panel (at the bottom in the photos) is much thicker than the wings. c. The closing strip, attached to the right wing, serves more to conceal the meeting of the wings than to ensure their proper closing. This is ensured by the latch to the right of the closing strip, as seen at the bottom. The small swivel hooks at the top and bottom are not original. a b c
