Frames and supports in 15th and 16th-century Southern Netherlandish painting

Bibliography: Pauwels 1984, 21. Panel: five horizontal boards, painted outside the frame. The panel is cradled. Frame: rebated, slotted joints, mitred at front, cut square on reverse. Two pegs on the same side of the mitre reinforce each joint. Four hanging/holding holes, two on each side of the upper rail. The frame has been stripped.
