Statue retrouvée pendant les travaux de restauration de l'église par l'architecte Aguste Van Assche entre 1885 et 1892. Jules Helbig l'a intégrée dans le décor peint néo-gothique du choeur et des transepts. Celui-ci a été surpeint après 1944.
