Tijdens het abbatiaat van Elisabeth 'sConincs, wijdde de bisschop van Kamerijk, Jean de Bourgogne, op 20 november 1447 acht altaren in de kerk van Vorst (cf. Monasticon Belge, Tome IV, vol. 1, Luik, 1964, p.205); wellicht is er een verband met de opdracht tot het schilderij.
